We are greeted by a fine day in Melbourne, the sun isn’t up yet. We collect our barbeque gas bottle and we are on our way. The plan is to be in NSW for our first night.
We stop for a cup of coffee once on the Hume Hwy and meet up with 2 other couples (never met before) that know friends of ours and they plan to meet in Tocumwal.
A quick look around Seymour is quite rewarding as there is a Vietnam Veterans Commerative Walk. It is well worth a quick look.
Next stop is Shepparton and we stock up with some bulk preserved fruit from the SPC Factory Sales.
Apex Beach on the Murray River Tocumwal
A couple of phone calls and we decide to meet up with our new friends from early this morning and other friends in Tocumwal and we decide that we will spend our first night in Victoria although only a stones throw from NSW on the banks of the Murray River at Apex Beach. It is approx 700m off the main hwy heading into Tocumwal up a gravel road, a little rough with a few potholes and a few over hanging tree limbs but well worth the effort. 5 vans in here for the night and all from the north west coast of Tasmania. 2 of us were off the ferry this morning, one has been waiting for there mates to arrive, one heading home in 3 days, the other staying on after his mate heads home. Its days like this that make being a grey nomad worthwhile and its only day one.
