It is a shame to leave Gum Bend Lake so soon, but as we are on a 6 week schedule we must head north. The weather has been good, warm through the day, chilly at night, the diesel heater doing its duty, keeping us warm and toasty inside the van at night.
Utes In The Paddock, Ootha
heading east towards Parkes we pass within 3km from the Utes in the Paddock. We have been here before but we cannot go past wthout another look.
We had lunch in Parkes at the Memorial Hill Lookout. We took the 5th wheeler up to the top and while there is not a lot of room there were few cars up there, we had plenty of room to spread out to have lunch. Panoramic views all around made for a scenic site.
We set up camp for the night at the Gilgandra Showground after checking out a spot behind the bowls club. Too close to the highway so we give it a miss. The showground had plenty of flat ground, although the toilets left a bit to be desired.
The Coo-ee Bronze Sculpture
A bronze sculpture has been erected in town to commemerate the one hundedth anniversary call to arms for WW1
Gilgandra also hosts Neptune in the Worlds Largest Virtual Solar System. Over the years I have seen several of these up the Newell Hwy.
