We were on the road at 8.00am leaving Beerwah heading for Birkdale Brisbane to spend the day with my sister. We found our caravan park in Thorneside easily as the traffic was light and it is perfectly situated less than 5 minutes from Alison’s house. Our site had a 5th wheeler almost the same as ours. We timed it perfectly as they were about to leave as we arrived.
We arrived at Alison’s house and she had organised a trip to North Stradbroke Island. We didn’t have long to wait for the ferry and we had the use of a car so we had a good look around. The North Gorge Walk is a fabulous boardwalk around a rocky outcrop. Great views, a bit of exercise and plenty of marine life. Turtles, stingrays and even a few whales well offshore. A pod of dolphins were in view just before we arrived, but sadly we missed them.
Alison’s partner Steve enlightened me on the use of the panoramic feature on my Iphone. A little bit of cropping was needed to keep the file size down. (something else to learn)
We had a great day and would never have ventured out to North Stradbroke Island without some planning from Alison, but I would thoroughly recommend at least a day trip here.
