We left Brisbane and headed for the Gold Coast. Three and four lanes of traffic on the motorway makes for maximum concentration and minimum site seeing.
Its a good thing I’m only visiting. I could not live here but is a great place to visit.
I am still amazed how caravan parks baulk when a 5th wheeler arrives. We asked for a site that would take a 22ft caravan, we was given a site for a 24ft caravan. At the Gold Coast Holiday Park they have attendants that direct you to your site. Two different people said our van was too big for the site and directed us to a new site and wanted us to back around a light pole onto our site. We had a raised concrete pad on one side to damage tyres on and a pole with less than 4″ on the other and he wanted me to back around it. I then backed up and attacked it from another direction, much easier. He then started to tell me “right hand down” as I was backing in trying to avoid doing any damage. He went quiet when I informed him I don’t do “right hand down”. No damage done and setup on a reasonable site we dhve decided to stay for an extra night.
It is a lovely park with very good facilities and $42.00/night for two on a powered site with five minutes of a heap of Gold Coast attractions was pretty good value even if it wasn’t peak season. The traffic noise from the motorway was very noticable most of the night
We went to see “The High Country Legends” at the Outback Spectactular. It was truly a great event and I would thoroughly recommend anyone in the area to make the effort to see the show.
