Our plans for today were to be close enough to Sydney to drive through on Sunday, hopefully avoiding heavy traffic. We passed through Kew on the way back to the highway and come across a big “axe” at the information centre.

We chose to stay at the Morisset Showground, less than 5km off the Pacific Hwy. Lake Macquarie is nearby, but time was against us, so we didn’t get the chance to have a look around.

The showground has only just started to see grey nomads using it’s facilities in big numbers, according to the manager, mainly due to Wikicamps and some updated facilities. Lots of space and power and water scattered around gives plenty of options. $25.00 a night for vans over 8m for a powered site was a bit expensive for a basic campsite, so we chose the unpowered option for $15.00.
